Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was another smash hit for the franchise way back in 2002. At the box office, the film generated $879 million, while reviews were also very stellar with Rotten Tomatoes rating the film with an 82% approval rating.

However, certain moments were a little more difficult to shoot. That has held true throughout the films, as certain scenes didn’t exactly sit well with the main cast. Rupert Grint in particular can attest to this, given his fear of spiders. That fear was put to the test during a scene that featured spiders everywhere. Grint attempted the scene, but had a panic attack once a spider started crawling on his leg.

The moment caused major delays and ultimately, special effects were used to fulfill the scene’s requirements.

Even with the special effects, Grint still struggles to watch the final product.

“It really made me feel uneasy. I didn’t like looking at it at all. We saw that scene in the cinema, they kind of added visual effects — all these kinds of moving ones of the ground. I still can’t watch that scene. Absolutely terrifying.”

In truth, Grint wasn’t the only cast member to be completely terrified during a certain scene in the film.

Another challenging scene for the Harry Potter cast involved Emma Watson, who described a certain experience as “terrifying.” During the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Watson had to shoot a scene where she was tortured by Helena Bonham Carter’s character, Bellatrix Lestrange. The intense and emotional scene took a toll on Watson, who found it difficult to shake off the effects even after the cameras stopped rolling.
