Even though they no longer co-host Today together, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb have shown that their friendship remains as strong as ever. 

Savannah recently received a heartwarming surprise from her former co-anchor while promoting her latest book, proving that their bond extends far beyond the television screen.

A Surprise Appearance on Savannah’s Book Tour

Savannah is currently on a book tour for her upcoming release, Mostly What God Does is Love You, making stops across the Midwest and East Coast. 

While she was expecting to see plenty of fans along the way, she wasn’t prepared for an unexpected visit from Hoda, 

who made a surprise appearance at one of her events on Tuesday.

Sharing the special moment on Instagram, Savannah posted a touching photo of the two embracing. In the snapshot, she looked stylish in a mustard-yellow blouse and light-wash jeans, while Hoda sported a cozy cream sweater under a camel-toned gilet. Savannah’s caption captured just how much the visit meant to her, writing, “Happiness is… your friend surprising — no, SHOCKING you — by showing up at your book event. @hodakotb there is just no one like you. My biggest cheerleader from beginning to end.”

Fans and colleagues were quick to react, including fellow Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager, who commented, “In tears.”

Savannah’s Latest Literary Endeavor

The book tour has taken Savannah to multiple cities, including Houston, Texas, Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Her latest work, a children’s picture book, serves as a companion to her #1 New York Times bestselling 2024 essay collection, Mostly What God Does.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her new book, Savannah shared, “We often tell our children how much we love them, but how different would our world be if we shared the simple truth that God loves them, too?”

She continued, “This book is my way of sharing that message with the next generation so they grow up knowing how cherished they are and how, in turn, they can share that same love with others.”

Savannah has always been open about the importance of faith in her life, describing it as “what makes me tick.” In an interview, she explained, “It’s what makes me joyful. It’s what helps me navigate the world and stresses and disappointments and fears.”

A Friendship That Goes Beyond Work

Hoda’s surprise appearance at Savannah’s book event wasn’t the first time the two had reunited outside of work. The duo recently bumped into each other while vacationing with their families in Palm Beach, Florida.

Savannah shared a selfie from the chance encounter, showing both women enjoying an outdoor meal with their loved ones. Hoda, who held up the camera for the shot, flashed a bright smile alongside Savannah and their families. Captioning the post, Savannah wrote, “Oh and a bonus @hodakotb sighting for a little extra [sunshine emoji].”

Even though their professional paths may have diverged, the two remain incredibly close. Their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, and their off-screen friendship is just as strong. Whether showing up at a book event or sharing a spontaneous vacation moment, Savannah and Hoda continue to support each other in every way.
