Strictly’s Aljaz Škorjanec Admits ‘I Shouldn’t Say That’ in On-Air Confession

Aljaz Škorjanec made a surprising revelation during a recent television appearance, 

admitting to a habit that might land him in hot water with some of his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars. 

The professional dancer, who returned to the hit BBC show last year, confessed that he often mutes his WhatsApp chats due to the overwhelming number of group conversations.

Aljaz, 35, and his wife, fellow Strictly star Janette Manrara, appeared on Lorraine on Friday to discuss their upcoming A Night to Remember tour. 

The pair, known for their dynamic performances and strong bond, shared insights into their busy schedules, juggling parenthood, and their experiences with their Strictly family.

During the conversation, host Christine Lampard brought up the close friendships formed among the Strictly cast, likening them to a “substitute family.” She also mentioned the numerous WhatsApp groups among the show’s professionals, joking that keeping up with them must be like a “full-time job.”

This prompted Aljaz to reveal his cheeky confession about how he manages the constant stream of messages.

Aljaz’s WhatsApp Confession

Laughing at Christine’s observation, Aljaz admitted that the Strictly professionals are part of multiple WhatsApp group chats, making it difficult to keep up with all the messages.

“Look, Strictly is a quick turnaround job as it is, even more so when you’re involved in about eight or nine different WhatsApp groups.”

He then made a confession that might not sit well with some of his fellow cast members:

“I cannot follow. One of my favourite things about that chat is actually a mute thing. I shouldn’t be saying that on TV!”

As soon as he made the admission, Aljaz realized his words might stir some reactions, but his wife Janette couldn’t help but laugh beside him. He further explained that the sheer volume of messages can sometimes be overwhelming, adding, “It’s just too much for me.”

Balancing Tour Life and Parenthood

Aside from discussing Strictly friendships and group chats, Aljaz and Janette also opened up about the challenges of balancing their demanding careers with raising their young daughter. Their little one, who turned one year old in July, has been a central focus in their lives, and planning tours while ensuring she is cared for requires careful coordination.

Christine acknowledged the difficulties of organizing childcare while traveling, to which Janette wholeheartedly agreed, describing it as a “puzzle.”

“It is such a puzzle! But luckily, we have Aljaz’s mum, my mum, and Aljaz’s sister. They, between them, take turns flying over. They’re really on standby for us at all times.”

Janette emphasized how grateful they are to have supportive family members, even though many of them live abroad.

“It really does take a village, and we’re so grateful that we’ve got family, even if they are abroad, that take the time to come and support and help us so we can carry on doing what we’re doing.”

Aljaz chimed in, adding that while it can be difficult not being able to see their family as often, the time they do spend together is even more meaningful. He also pointed out the silver lining—their family members get to explore different parts of the country while visiting them on tour.

“They get to tour the whole country!”
