The Chase’s Bradley Walsh Forced to Step In as Contestant Sparks Viewer Outrage with Controversial Move

Bradley Walsh found himself stepping in to address a contestant’s controversial decision on The Chase, leaving viewers fuming and demanding changes to the game format. 

The dramatic episode, which aired on Wednesday, saw contestant Qahir making a decision that divided opinions, 

with some fans initially raging at his move before later admitting he had redeemed himself.

A High-Stakes Episode

The episode kicked off with four contestants—Anne, Qahir, Katy, and Liam—going head-to-head with The Chase star Darragh Ennis, 

known as The Menace. Each player aimed to build up their cash pot and secure a spot in the final round.

Qahir, who revealed his plans to use any winnings to take his father Karim to Uganda, impressed early on by securing £5,000 in the cash-builder round. When it came time to face The Menace, he was presented with three offers: a lower £1,000, his original £5,000, and a high-risk £69,000.

Despite his teammates urging him to stick with the middle option, Qahir controversially opted for the lowest offer, a decision that sent shockwaves through the audience and social media.

Bradley Steps In

As the round progressed, Bradley Walsh made his feelings clear. With The Menace just one question away from catching Qahir, the host warned, “You’ve been vindicated in going for the minus offer, but it would be an awful waste of my time if you don’t go through now.”

Qahir, unfazed by the pressure, responded with humor, saying, “You and me both!”

Despite the heated reaction to his choice, Qahir successfully made it through, bringing the team’s total prize pot to £10,000. Bradley, though initially critical, acknowledged his progress, telling him, “You know what, you’ve made it! You’ve got three in the final! So well done you, mate.”

Next up was Anne, who showed a bolder approach in her round. After earning £7,000 in the cash-builder, she faced the decision of taking a lower offer of £2,000, sticking with her original amount, or risking it all for a massive £90,000. Unlike Qahir, Anne took the risk and went for the highest amount, despite her teammates advising otherwise.

Unfortunately, her gamble didn’t pay off, and she was caught by The Menace, meaning she was eliminated from the game. This left just Qahir, Katy, and Liam to take on the final round, where they worked together to set a 21-step target against the Chaser.

Redemption in the Final Chase

Despite the earlier backlash, the team managed to secure the £10,000 prize. Bradley acknowledged Qahir’s contribution, telling the team: “Five attempts to push back. Three executed, well-played. The Chaser needed two… The Chaser said it all—if you hadn’t got back, Qahir, seriously…”

While many viewers had criticized his earlier decision, some began changing their tune after seeing him help secure the team’s win.
